Introduction
Among the best universities in the world, private universities play a central and leading role. Institutions such as Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, and Yale Universities have been the pioneer of higher education for centuries. While Asian universities have witnessed tremendous growth in recent decades, most leading players are public universities.
As Asia continues to rise globally with rapidly growing economies, what will private universities' future look like? What changes can we expect to see regarding its governance and financing? Most importantly, what roles will they play and what responsibilities do they have in solving our global challenges such as climate change?
